If design and designers are to play a more strategic role in organisations, completely oriented to the identification and subsequent care of high-impact opportunities for innovation in a breathtakingly changing world, they have to cease to be mere technical experts and they must rather assume a role of greater influence and leadership.

However, such changes in their function requires new knowledge in increasingly broad, complex and changing spaces, which can only be reached in collaboration with experts in different subjects whom we must be able to lead and inspire toward innovation of high impact.

We will also need new skills such as the ability to create and lead/manage knowledge networks throughout the value chain, or to develop a strategic vision of the business.
