License degree in Business Studies at the “Universidad Comercial de Deusto” (Deusto University) in the 1996th academia year, specializing in Marketing and Trade Techniques. In 1997 he is awarded, in a public contest, a scholarship, at the DZ-Design Center, to continue the studies in industrial design for a period of three years. During this period he continues the studies in De Monfort University, where he gets the degree of Bachelor in Arts (Honours Mention) in Product and Furniture Design.
Back in Spain, he creates the design studio “IDEILAN DESIGN S.L.” ( with head office in the technological and science park in the basque country- Vizcaya) where a lot of projects are developed for private firms, as well as public entities. Among these, can be mentioned “B-lux”, “Thyssenkrupp”, “Lino Alonso”, “Vitrinor”, “Magefesa”, “Solac”, “Laster”, “Biplax”, “Sidenor”, “Metro Bilbao”, “Universidad de Deusto”, “Diputación Foral de Bizkaia”, “Gobierno Vasco”, and several other firms and research and production centres in Castilla-León and Asturias. He participates also as member-founder in “Santa & Partners” consulting for strategy, planning and prospective, where he is a member of the board of directors.
Since 2004 he collaborates with the University of Mondragón in teaching and project evaluation activities as an ordinary lecturer, and has also developed these same activities of teaching and evaluation in the Master Degree Course on Design Management, at the Design Center-DZ, in collaboration with the University of the Basque Country (UPV). He also makes a contribution to the evaluation of projects for the University of Wales.
He is the author of several papers about the role of design in firms, the management of design and the contribution of design to firm’s competitivity.
He has been awarded several important and prestigious prizes, at the national as well as the international level. Member of the AEPD and INNOBASQUE and collaborator with BAI programme and the DDI, he is also present at the SIDI, VIA and BEAZ.
